I spent way too much time reading about flight paths from Auckland to Queenstown, to ensure I booked seats on the correct side of the place for these views. It paid off though, so I'd do it again.

Queenstown

Queenstown is a playground for adults. Part ski village and part adventure park, it’s just 100% fun, all the time. If adrenaline is your thing, there’s bungee jumping, jet boating, paragliding, luging, and countless other ways to have a near-death experience. And for everyone else, there is the laidback shoreline of Lake Wakatipu.

During our visit, we tried the luge (it felt safer to keep both feet firmly on the ground) which was a lot of fun. They are basically downhill go karts, and they go surprisingly fast. We also indulged in all the other local (read: tourist) favorites: FergBurger’s famous burgers, Mrs. Ferg’s gelato, and wine from the nearby wine regions.
